Anand Bhadauria, The SP Candidate From Dhaurahra Constituency

Edited by Akhil Thomas

Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Anand Bhadauria is the party candidate from the Dhaurahra Lok Sabha constituency in Uttar Pradesh for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Anand Bhadauria’s inclusion in the first list of candidates for the Lok Sabha polls indicates his strong hold in the Samajwadi Party.

In 2016, when the Samajwadi Party swept the Uttar Pradesh legislative council elections, Anand Bhadauria was also part of that victory. Notably, the SP leader was elected unopposed from Sitapur along with several of “Team Akhilesh Yadav” members. Anand Bhadauria was elected unopposed as independent candidate Vijay Kumar Tiwari’s nomination papers were rejected during the investigation. It is worth mentioning that the Legislative Council is the upper house at the state level, and the Legislative Assembly is the lower house. Only a few states in India have a Legislative Council.

Anand Bhadauria was also the SP candidate from Dhaurahra in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls. However, he managed to get only 2,34,032 votes. At the same time, BJP candidate Rekha Verma won and became MP from this seat in the 2014 polls by collecting 3,60,357 votes. Dhaurahra, one of the important constituencies in the state of Uttar Pradesh, is made up of five assembly constituency segments.

Anand Bhadauria, the former MLC, severely criticised the Yogi Adityanth administration on several occasions. At the same time, Anand Bhadauria is a close aide of SP chief Akhilesh Yadav. By announcing candidates for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, the Samajwadi Party is all set to begin preparations in major constituencies well in advance before the notification is issued.
