TIRUPATI: Andhra Pradesh state police department placed Nandyal I town police inspector Somasekhar Reddy under suspension following charges levelled against him by a family of four moments before their mass suicide pact.
It may be recalled that Abdul Salam along with his wife and two children committed suicide by jumping before a moving train on November 3. A few days after their tragic death, a selfie video shot by the family just moments before their suicide pact went viral in the social media, prompting the AP state police department to order an internal enquiry by a 3-member committee headed by IG of police Shankha Brata Bagchi.

In the selfie video, the family had alleged that Abdul Salam was being framed in a theft case by the Nandyal I town police despite no involvement. "Though we are innocent nobody is coming to our rescue and hence we have decided to commit suicide", rued the family before committing suicide.
The state government which took the issue seriously suspended Nandyal I town police inspector Somasekhar Reddy on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the three member enquiry committee led by IG Shankha Brata Bagchi reached Nandyal and questioned several police constables and others on Sunday.
State deputy chief minister SB Amzath Basha will extend his solidarity to the relatives of the deceased Abdul Salam's family at Moolasagaram locality in Nandyal town on Monday.
