2 dead, 1 injured as truck hits autorickshaw in Tamil Nadu's Gummidipoondi

CHENNAI: Two people were killed and one sustained injuries when the share autorickshaw they were travelling in was hit by a speeding truck at Gummidipoondi in Tamil Nadu's Tiruvallur district on Wednesday morning.
Police identified the deceased as Diwakar Vasu, 45 of Gummidipoondi and Devaraj, 40 of Pethikuppam.
The duo were going to Andhra Pradesh from Gummidipoondi when the accident took place at around 7.30am.
On Wednesday morning, when they reached Elavur, a truck carrying cardboard sheets moving in the same direction rammed the truck. In the impact, the autorickshaw went on to hit the median in which two occupants died on the spot and one Rathinam suffered severe injuries.
The truck driver Bhoomi surrendered before Arambakkam police. Further probe is on.
