Gujarat: Two ships collide in mid-sea off Okha coast, no casualties

Two ships collided in mid-sea around 12 nautical miles off Okha coast in Gujarat on Friday night. The coast guard initiated the rescue operation. According to the sources, the collision occurred between ships MV Aviator from Marshal Island and MV Atlantic Grace from Hong Kong.

RAJKOT: Two ships collided in mid-sea around 12 nautical miles off Okha coast in Gujarat on Friday night.
No casualties were reported in the incident.
The coast guard initiated the rescue operation.
According to sources, the collision occurred between Marshal Island's ship MV Aviator from and Hong Kong's MV Atlantic Grace.
MV Atlantic Grace was carrying oil and chemical containers.

The coast guard ships each from Mundra and Okha were deployed to carry out the assessment of the area.
The Okha and Dwarka coast has sensitive marine diversity reserves.
A pollution control vessel of the coast guard reached to assess and take preventive measures towards marine oil pollution.
There were no reports of oil spills from any of the merchant ships.
“There is no loss of life and no report of marine pollution due to the collision between the two ships,” said Niraj Hiravani, port officer, Okha.
