Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy announced present MLC Duvvada Srinivas as the Tekkali MLA candidate.
His candidature kindled fire among the aspirants, including former central minister Killi Kruparani, former MLA candidate of Tekkali Perada Tilak, and others. While Duvvada Srinivas’s followers are in jubilant mode.
Chief minister Jagan announced Duvvada Srinivas's name during the public meeting at Naupada after laying the foundation stone for the Mulapeta Port.

He asked the public to put Srinivas on the Victory podium. The 51-year-old Srinivas was a strong follower of the late CM YS Rajasekhar Reddy. But he joined actor turned politician Chiranjeevi’s Praja Rajyam Party in 2009 and contested from Tekkali and lost the election.
The granite businessman Duvvada joined the TDP later during the ZPTC elections for a brief period and changed the flag colors by joining the YSRCP.
He contested on the YSRCP ticket in the 2014 elections from Tekkali and lost to TDP’s Kinjarapu Acchennaidu.
YSRCP supremo YS Jagan Mohan Reddy gave him a Srikakulam Lok Sabha ticket in the 2019 elections, in which he was defeated by Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu of TDP. Recognising his services to the party, YSRCP made him an MLC one and a half years ago.

Perada Tilak, who lost the elections to Acchennaidu of TDP in 2019, was made AP Kalinga corporation chairman. But he is still expecting the Tekkali seat for the coming elections.
The former central minister Killi Kruparani pinned high hopes on Tekkali seat in 2019 and now for upcoming elections.
There was a talk at the party last year that she would become MLC, but nothing has happened.
