“Mainit” means “hot” in Tagalog. This waterfall was named after the hot springs found upriver where locals swear the water gets so warm that you can boil an egg! While I cannot verify this legend I can attest to warmer water as you hike up river. Maybe next time I’ll hike further and reach this mystical hot springs! Rumor says they are about 30 mins upstream.

These falls are a favorite for local children and offer numerous cliff jumping spots for the adventurous rock climbers.
