Echoes of Ararat: A Collection of Over 300 Flood Legends from North and South America Paperback – February 1, 2021

Additional Details
In Echoes of Ararat, author Nick Liguori contends that oral traditions of the Flood and the survival of the few inside the floating Ark-are even more prevalent than previously thought, and they powerfully confirm the truth of the Genesis account. This unprecedented work carefully documents hundreds of native traditions of the Flood-as well as the Tower of Babel and the Garden of Eden-from the tribes of North and South America. Learn what the Cherokee, Lakota, Iroquois, Cheyenne, Inuit, Inca, Aztec, Guaraní, and countless other tribes claimed about the early history of the world. Liguori also shares many evidences for the historical reliability of Genesis, and shows that the Genesis Flood account is not dependent on the Epic of Gilgamesh or other Near-Eastern texts, as skeptics claim. Rather, its author Moses had access to ancient records passed down by the early Patriarchs, including Joseph, Jacob, Abraham, and even Noah himself.

Sure, the Bible makes it clear there were no survivors of the flood (Genesis 6-7, Matthew 24:39, Luke 17:27), but how can we use all of these cute tribal stories as proof if there were no survivors? Easy: This author knows ignoring the Bible is the route to proving our religious and political points.
How can we further our political and religious aims and promote our truth if we have to trust an old book like the Bible?
Add this to the list of books I treat as fact but never actually read.
1. Nick's book collects far more flood myths than any other book previously written on the topic.
2. It shows that nearly any tribe/culture in the Western hemisphere, that you can name, has a flood story that matches the Genesis story to a high degree in most cases (enough to disprove coincidence).
3. Therefore, if all cultures share the story, then please, provide a logical explanation of human dispersion that does not involve a relatively recent scattering of tribes after the flood.
Otherwise, the ethnographic evidence requires acceptance by logical people of a "shared origin" of mankind, even if the geological record is not as clear or irrelevant.
Rebutle to negative reviews:
I am not sure how many you read, but while a few were somewhat vague in similarity, most were not. The weakest example would be that a flood covered the entire world, and only a very few people survived on top of a mountain, but that is mostly in south america. In most cases, there would be additional details such as sending out 2 animals (usually birds) to see if there was dry ground, or collection of animals/seeds. I would say the most common element however in the simpler stories was that the survivors became the parents of the entire human race. Regardless, if you threw these out, it would still leave 100's of stories all over the west, including a Garden of Eden and Tower of Babel stories in several cases. Perhaps the author can tally the results of "common features" on a large grid.
If the above is true, which it is, then how can any scientist explain it? True, this has been known since at least the 1800's (e.g. Frazer) however, very few people today seem to be aware of this universal shared knowledge.
Now, tell me: What is your personal, logical explanation?
Ligouri does a good job in compiling the tales by geographic region, so it is easy for the reader to see the similarities by tribes close to each other. As Ligouri says, he merely compiled tales that has already been written down, many hundreds of years ago (!!0 and made them cohesive, by adding in pictures and illustrations from different tribes. This helps to make the book interesting to kids especially. This should be included in any religious education class, especially for pre-teens, before societal cues make them doubt the bible. It helps to give a strong foundation for historical fact and for apologetic teaching!
This is an amazing resource! I approached this reading already believing in a worldwide flood, but these stories have taken my faith to a new level of astonishment at God’s mighty declaration of power!
The only satisfactory explanation, in light of this vast body of evidence, is that the Flood actually happened, just as Genesis says it did.
This is an amazing book. I highly recommend it to anyone who may need to answer the question “How do you know the Bible is true?”
