Product description

Kasabian ~ Kasabian

Amazon.com

There's nothing particularly original about Kasabian. The hirsute Leicester band swaggers like the Stone Roses, plays dance-rock like Primal Scream, and mouths off like Oasis. Singer Tom Meighan even once famously derided Strokes singer Julian Casablancas in an interview with the NME as a "posh f---ing skier." But these are also the things that make Kasabian's debut so endearing. It's an album that spills over with personality and confidence, delivering massive club anthems in the form of songs like "Processed Beats," "Cutt Off" and "L.S.F. (Lost Souls Forever)," where the band finds just the right balance between primitive riffs and space-age grooves. -- Aidin Vaziri

I don’t know why I am actually writing a review because if your considering buying a record then you know how awesome this band is. Why Kasabian never made it big in the US is beyond me, and I live here. They are such an awesome blend of rock and electronica. If you ever have the chance to see them live they are INCREDIBLE.

This is a great album. Music is highly original and unlike anything i've ever heard. That is meant as a compliment! As far as the copy protection goes, I have an Apple iMac running iTunes. It ripped all the tracks just fine. The copy scheme is probably aimed at people using Windows computers. As far as I know, Apple computers are immune to it. Maybe another reason for people to buy Apple computers. Anyway, I sympathize with everyone on copy protecting CDs. If you buy the CD, you have a right to copy it and rip it to mp3, aac, etc. and transfer the music to your portable device. Blame the music industry for the high prices of the CDs and also the pirates who get the music illegally. Don't punish the artists for it; it's not their fault. Write to the music labels via email or regular mail and make yourselves be heard. Please rate the CD based on its music, not the copy protection. Thank you.

This is such an excellent cd. I downloaded it from itunes and can now listen to it on my ipod all the time and burn it onto a disc if I wish . It's just too good to pass up. Definitely a 5 star debut.
I have heard that there is some sort of a patch that can be downloaded to fix the copy right protection issue on discs like these. There's always a way to listen to good music, so think twice before writing those 1 star reviews. It's not the band's fault!
Anyway, this disc is a fantastic piece of work. I'm looking forward to more releases from Kasabian.

Kasabian are a band ahead of their time, at least in America. They have never gotten their proper due here. Which is great because we can see them for cheap in tiny venues. That being said, their debut album is incredible, heavy, balls to the wall, psych rock. I'm glad it's gotten a reissue on vinyl but I can't get past why they insist on releasing their LPs on 10 inch instead of 12. It doesn't fit right with the rest of my records. Oh well, it still kicks ass.

For those of you having a problem ripping this CD, go to the Apple website and download iTunes. iTunes bypasses the copy protection on this CD and rips mp3s perfectly at any bitrate. As far as the program pop-up that comes up when you load the CD, just hold down your Shift key when you load the disc and wait a few seconds. That will keep the CD's autorun from executing (if you can't stop the program popup, you can still run iTunes behind it.)

Ignoring the annoying copy protection, this CD is easily an early frontrunner for best disc of 2005. Highlights are L.S.F., Cutt Off, and Butcher Blues.

Uno dei migliori dischi dei Kasabian, peccato per la scelta del disco da 10" che purtroppo mi ha fatto modificare l'altezza posteriore del braccio altrimenti le canzoni saltavano.
Consegna sempre super veloce e funzionale.

I remember hearing this album for the first time on cd. A must have in any vinyl collection. The opening track Club Foot is one of the greatest opening songs to any album.
