Two males died after drowning at Gunpowder Falls State Park Monday, according to Maryland Natural Resources Police.
Police responded to a call for a drowning Monday evening in the park’s Hammerman Swim Area, off the Gunpowder River.
One male was retrieved from the water and taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, Lt. Travis Francis, a fire department spokesperson, said Monday. Police confirmed Tuesday that he later died from his injuries. The other male who died was found later after search efforts.
No other details are being released at the request of the victims’ families, according to Megan McGinn-Meals, communications and outreach liaison at Maryland Department of Natural Resources.
