I am so grateful that I have lived long enough to see the amazing accomplishments the LGBTQ community has made. To know that through community involvement and legislation, we can make all these changes — and not to mention change the minds of the broader community.
Every summer around Pride Month, I’m reminded of Sylvester, who was one of the most talented and funniest people I’ve known — and a soldier for gay pride. I do a piece in my show as a tribute to him with the song “You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real).”
