Neil Young and Crazy Horse’s recent reunion continues to bear fruit.
After returning to collaboration with June covers album “Americana,” Young and his frequent backing band will release an album of orginal material, “Psychedelic Pill,” according to Young’s official website.
The lengthy new set will arrive as a two-CD set, a triple vinyl release and a “recommended” hi-fi Blu-ray disc. “Psychedelic Pill” is due in October, with an exact date yet to be announced. Videos for each song will be included on both Blu-ray and iTunes releases.
Some of the tracks were “previewed in Crazy Horse’s live performances earlier this month,” per Young’s site, which also reveals that the group recorded the set directly following the “Americana” sessions.
After playing the Farm Aid benefit and Central Park’s Global Festival in September, the group will set out on a full-scale North American tour in October, coinciding with the album’s release. Young and Crazy Horse’s dates include sets at the Hollywood Bowl (Oct. 17) and Austin City Limits (Oct. 13).
