Crystal Springs High School was evacuated Wednesday morning after a bomb threat, police said.

Crystal Springs police have confirmed a bomb threat at Crystal Springs High School and Crystal Springs Elementary.

Officials said there are police units at the high school now, securing the scene, and that the students have been evacuated to a safe location.

Copiah County EMA Director Randle Drane said the call came in between 8:36 and 8:40 a.m., and the caller told two different school employees that there is a bomb in the building.

"We ordered the evacuation for the safety of the students, in case there actually is a bomb in the building," Drane said.

Currently several agencies are on scene, and bomb-sniffing dogs from Mississippi Highway Patrol and Clinton Police Department are clearing the school.

Personnel from Mississippi Emergency Management Agency, Crystal Springs police and fire, and Mississippi Wildlife Fisheries and Parks are also on the scene.

Students have been sent to Crystal Springs Middle School's gymnasium and the new safehouse in Gallman, Copiah County School District spokeswoman Martha Traxler said.

"If parents want to check out their kids, they can, but they have to go through the administrator at each site," Traxler said.

As of 11 a.m., no bomb has been found.

Once the schools have been cleared, the students will be bused back to their respective schools.

This is a developing story. We will update as more information becomes available.
