Swimsuits To Wear For Flattering Tan Lines

Bye bye, awkward lines!

I, like most Filipinos, tan quite easily. No matter how much SPF I apply on my skin, I always end up bronzed after a couple of hours under the sun. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love having a sunkissed lewk! What I don’t like are awkward tan lines, caused by poor planning when it comes to packing clothes.

Over the years, I have learned that there are essentially two rules to follow so you won’t get awkward tan lines: 1) pack swimwear cut in the same way; and 2) stick to cuts that resemble the clothes you wear on a daily basis. You also have to keep in mind that how the swimsuit looks on your body is a huge factor because it’s also what your tan line will look like after you take that suit off.

Want to perfect the art of getting flattering tan lines? Here are a few swimsuits to get you started:

If you want tan lines you can hide easily…

Opt for bandeaus because the lack of straps and the straight cut will make tan lines easier to cover up!

You can also go for square-neck suits with straps if you don’t mind getting straplines. Aside from the cut giving you easy-to-hide tan lines, it also frames your collarbones and shoulders, creating a super flattering silhouette for all body types.

If you wear a lot of plunging necklines...

Pack swimsuits with low-cut tops. Major plus: Suits in this style help accentuate your cleavage!

Aside from the classic triangle cut, you can also opt for beachwear with low, round-neck cuts. Just make sure to wear them on the last few days of your trip so you can (at least try to) even out the skin tone left by the triangle cuts.

If you want little to no tan lines at all….

Go for wetsuits or rashguards that have long sleeves—yes, like the ones that you used to wear as a child. I can distinctly remember that I had to wear rash guards so I won’t have to worry about getting a sunburnt back after a long day under the sun. But don’t worry, I’ve found some cute and updated designs that are definite upgrades from the ones you used to sport back in the day.
