The South Connellsville Volunteer Fire Department is planning its second Cruisin’ South Connellsville Car Show and Craft/Vendor Fair.
The fundraising event is planned noon to 5 p.m. Sept. 16 in and around the fire station and its social hall.
Bonnie Parker, department fundraising coordinator, said last year’s event drew a nice crowd and more than 40 vehicles participated, with cars lining South Pittsburgh Street.
She said the car show will take place in conjunction with the vendor/craft fair.
Vehicle judging is slated at 3 p.m.
Parker said the craft and vendor show will feature local artists who will offer a variety of local craft items and baked goods. A pet bakery will sell its products.
Vendors including Avon and Thirty-One sales representatives, will participate.
“It covers all the gamuts,” Parker said.
New this year will be a visit from Smokey the Bear.
The event will feature games, including the cake wheel, and a large gift auction featuring prizes donated by local businesses.
Grille 37 will be open for meals.
Parker said vendors will be in the fire station while games and the auction will be in the social hall.
“Bring the whole family and enjoy some fun and help support the fire department,” Parker said.
She said fundraising events help the department improve facilities.
Parker said the department, which houses the only warming station in the borough, would like to add an elevator for easier access.
Years ago, the department sponsored a summer carnival, she said. The last year was 2014.
“This is one day and we can draw more attention as opposed to spreading it out, Parker said. “This is something that is fun for the whole family.”
