SK7207 : Lowesby Hall, Lowesby

taken 21 years ago, near to Lowesby, Leicestershire, England

Lowesby Hall, Lowesby
Lowesby Hall, Lowesby
An E-plan house of c1707 for Isaac Wollaston, whose family arms grace the pediment. Hidden inside is a C17th house - this or C19th alterations may account for the disturbing off-centre door* (which has a swan-neck pediment). Grade II* listed.
*It isn't, it's centrally placed, but stands in a canted projection which deceived me (e.g. see SK7207 : Lowesby Hall).
