A pub in Berkshire that closed five years ago has been put up for sale. On the market for a cool half a million pounds, The Rising Sun could be yours if you've got the money and determination.

The Stockcross pub was once a bustling business in West Berkshire. It closed for good back in 2017 and prior to this, was run by West Berkshire Brewery, one of the county's most popular brewers.

Following its closure, some people living in the area set up a website called 'Save the Rising Sun at Stockcross' to try and keep the business going. The pub was forced to close, however, and local councillor Keith Phillips said that the Rising Sun remains a "sad reminder" of all of the pubs lost in the small village of Stockcross.

The old pub is now up for sale and sits on a quarter acre of land. Whoever purchases the plot of land will get both the building and the garden.

The ground floor of the pub currently contains a kitchen, bar, dining room, beer store, living room, lounge, and two separate toilet areas. There's also a kitchen, sitting room and two bedrooms on the first floor and three outbuildings. The listing for the pub says that "the property is now in need of modernisation" and says that it "offers great potential as a residential development opportunity subject to the relevant permissions."

The Rising Sun will forever be remembered as one of Berkshire's beloved lost pubs, but there are still some other amazing pubs nearby. Newbury town centre sits around ten minutes away from Stockcross and houses a wide variety of pubs and bars.
