Photograph signed: "Sincerely/ Leo Reisman" in black ink. B/w,
8x10. Printed on promotional photograph for Leo Reisman and His
Orchestra. Violinist and bandleader Leo Reisman (1897-1961) was
popular throughout the 1920s and 1930s after forming his own band in 1919, with
whom he had over 80 hits on popular charts during his career, and earning the
name "The String Quartet of Dance Bands". Having the habit of featuring Broadway
performers such as Fred Astaire, Clifton Webb, Arthur Schwartz and Lee Wiley and
had hits with songs such as "Night and Day" (1932), "The Continental"
(1934) and "Cheek to Cheek" (1935). Slightly toned. Light surface
creases. Corners creased. Pencil notes on verso in unknown hand. Otherwise, fine
condition.
