A horn-driven band with a party-oriented "beach-style" rock sound, the Swingin' Medallions are best known for their 1966 hit single "Double Shot (Of My Baby's Love)," which charted at number 17 and became a frat-rock staple. It also made the group an institution in the South. Founded in 1962 by John McElrath, The Swingin' Medallions' personnel has changed quite a bit over the band's history, spanning over 60 years and continuing into the 21st century with McElrath's sons leading the group.
