Lok Sabha Elections 2019: Dhaurahra, Sitapur, Mohanlalganj, Lucknow, Rae Bareli Seats Polling Dates And Other Details

Dhaurahra, Sitapur, Mohanlalganj, Lucknow, Rae Bareli constituencies in Uttar Pradesh will go to polls in the fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections on May 6.

Lok Sabha Elections 2019: Uttar Pradesh will go to polls in all the seven phases for its 80 Lok Sabha seats, starting from the first phase on April 11 up to May 19. Let us take a look at the key details about Dhaurahra, Sitapur, Mohanlalganj, Lucknow, Rae Bareli constituencies in Uttar Pradesh which will go to polls in the fifth phase on May 6. The nomination for these seats will be scrutinised on April 20 and the final date of a candidate’s withdrawal is fixed at April 22. The deadline for filing the nomination for the respective seats falls on April 18.

Dhaurahra: This constituency came into existence in 2008 after the delimitation of parliamentary constituencies was implemented on the basis of the Delimitation Commission of India’s recommendations. Dharahra is spread over Lakhimpur Kheri and Sitapur districts.

This year, BJP candidate Rekha Verma is contesting against INC candidate Jitin Prasad from the Dhaurahra constituency. In the 2014 Lok Sabha poll, BJP candidate Rekha had won the Dhaurahra seat. On the second spot was Daud Ahmad from the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) followed by Samajwadi Party (SP) candidate Anand Bhadauriya.

Sitapur: Sitapur is situated in the Lucknow division of Uttar Pradesh on the banks of river Sarayan. BJP candidate Rajesh Verma is the current sitting member this parliamentary seat. He is contesting against Congress candidate Kaisar Jahan and BSP candidate Nakul Dube.

In the 2014 Lok Sabha poll, BJP candidate Rajesh Verma had won the Sitapur seat. On the second spot was Kaiser Jahan from the Samajwadi Party (SP) followed by Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate Bharat Tripathi.

Mohanlalganj: This constituency is situated 20 km away from the Lucknow city in Uttar Pradesh. The candidates contesting for this seat this year are Kaushal Kishore from BJP, RK Chaudhary (in place of Ramasharkar Bhargava) from INC and CL Verma from BSP.

In the 2014 Lok Sabha poll, BJP candidate Kaushal Kishore had won the Mohanlalganj seat. On the second spot was R K Chaudhary from the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) followed by Samajwadi Party (SP) candidate Sushila Saroj.

Lucknow: Lucknow is the capital city of Uttar Pradesh. BJP has fielded Rajnath Singh for this seat in the 2019 elections. Meanwhile, in the 2014 Lok Sabha poll, BJP candidate Rajnath Singh had won the Lucknow seat. On the second spot was Rita Bahuguna Joshi from the Congress followed by Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate Nakul Dubey. Joshi then joined BJP and won the Assembly elections, eventually becoming a minister in the Yogi Adityanath government.

Rae Bareli: Rae Bareli is situated in the south-east of Lucknow division on the banks of river Sai. This year, BJP candidate Dinesh Pratap Singh is contesting against INC candidate Sonia Gandhi for this seat.

In the 2014 Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress (INC) candidate Sonia Gandhi had won the Rae Bareli seat. On the second spot was Ajay Agrawal from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) followed by Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate Pravesh Singh.

The Lok Sabha voting for the 543 Lok Sabha seats will take place in seven phases starting from April 11 to May 19. The counting of votes will take place on May 23.
