In its bulletin, the private hospital said Poongothai Aladi Aruna is awake and responsive. She is in ICU but her vitals are satisfactory.

There are unconfirmed reports that the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam MLA overdosed on sleeping pills. No official confirmation has been issued in this regard either by her family or the hospital.

On Wednesday, Poongothai Aladi Aruna is said to have had altercations with some DMK workers during a booth committee meeting held in Kadayam.

The supporters of the union secretary of the Kadayam region allegedly abused the MLA and Poongothai Aladi Aruna is said to have walked out of the place.

According to sources, she was later called back inside the hall but insulted by the same group a second time when her microphone was switched off during her speech.

No FIR has been registered in this regard as of yet.

Poongothai Aladi Aruna had filed a complaint against a man for spreading rumours about her on social media. Just days after actress Khushboo joined the BJP, there were rumours that Poongothai could also switch to the saffron party.

However, Poongothai refuted these rumours and file a police complaint against a man for spreading such rumours.
