Actor Sunny Deol, who's enjoying the success of his recently released 'Gadar 2', is in the midst of controversy surrounding his upscale Mumbai villa. According to a bank recovery notice that was published this week, Sunny Deol’s villa, located in Mumbai's Juhu, was to be put up on auction. The notice said Sunny Deol's bungalow was being put on auction to recover pending dues amounting to around Rs 56 crore.

However, a day after the auction notice was published, Bank of Baorda issued a correction. The bank said it was retracting the auction note because of ‘technical reasons', leaving several people puzzled.

SUNNY DEOL'S VILLA

1) This bungalow of Sunny Deol is named Sunny Villa and is popularly known in the industry as Sunny Super Sound.

2) Sunny Villa is situated on Mumbai's seashore in Juhu and also has houses of stars including Shilpa Shetty, Shraddha Kapoor, Padmini Kolhapuri, and Govinda, among others.

3) Dharmendra's film Pratigya was produced about 50 years ago in Sunny Super Sound. The villa hosts private screenings of several films and also serves as a dubbing studio.

4) Sunny Villa is a 5-story building spread over 600 square meters and includes a basement, a movie theatre, a production office and a terrace garden.

ALL ABOUT THE CONTROVERSY

According to the first notice published by Bank of Baroda, a loan of around Rs 56 crore was to be returned to Sunny Deol. The notice said that the actor failed to return the amount, due to which the bank decided on auctioning the property. Bidding for the property was set to begin at Rs 51.43 crore.

According to the notice, Sunny Deol's father Dharmendra Singh Deol and younger brother Bobby Deol were among the guarantors on the loan.

SUNNY DEOL’S RESPONSE

Sunny Deol is currently in London for the promotion of his film ‘Gadar 2.’ Responding to this controversy, his team has said that the information that was published in the bank notice was 'not correct'.
