Sturgill Simpson will play December show at the Vogue

Country singer Sturgill Simpson, a recent winner at the Americana Honors & Awards, will perform on Dec. 7 at the Vogue.

Simpson collected the trophy for "emerging artist of the year" at the Sept. 17 Americana ceremony in Nashville.

His 2014 album, "Metamodern Sounds in Country Music," was characterized by RollingStone.com as "equal parts haunted, tender and trippy."

Simpson has toured as the supporting act for the Zac Brown Band and Jason Isbell this year.
