The Lizard is the name of the whole peninsula and of the village and point which is the most southerly in the UK.
Famous for its serpentine, the base rock of the area named because of its resemblance to a snakes skin, The Lizard Peninsula is an area of designated scientific interest.
The serpentine supports a flora peculiar to this habitat.
