Accadia

Overview

The small village of Accadia rises among the green hills of the southern Subappennino Dauno: the landscape that can be admired from the belvedere of Piazza Matteotti is breathtaking, the gaze is lost among water springs and the green of Bosco Paduli and Pietra di Punta. In the centre, the beauties of greatest architectural and cultural value are the Monumental Fountain, the Clock Tower and the Civic Museum. But what has always characterised Accadia is the Rione Fossi, an ancient citadel of mediaeval origin that has still preserved its original appearance intact: what makes this place unique is its mosaic of caves, some even prehistoric.
