Betty’s Way Fire near North Platte is nearly 100% contained, state officials say
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Firefighters have nearly contained a wildfire near North Platte that burned over 71,000 acres, officials said Thursday.
The Nebraska Emergency Management Agency reported that the Betty’s Way Fire, which was sparked Monday by a lawnmower, is at 98% containment.
Initial damage reports show that the wildfire destroyed four homes and damaged “countless” outbuildings and agriculture infrastructure, NEMA said.

No one was injured.
The fire is not completely out, as firefighters are still extinguishing hot spots within the perimeter.
Fire managers will continue to monitor conditions through the weekend, including the potential of strong winds.
