In honor of the late performer Lena Horne, In Black America presents an encore presentation of "Lena Horne: The Lady and Her Music," an extended interview with Horne that originally aired in March 1983.

The legendary singer, dancer, actress and Civil Rights activist died on May 9th, 2010 after a career in film, television and theater that spanned 60 years. She was 92.

John L. Hanson is the producer and host of the nationally syndicated radio series In Black America. It’s heard on home station KUT at 10 p.m. Tuesdays and 6:30 a.m. Sundays — and weekly on close to 20 stations across the country. The weekly podcast of IBA, the only nationally broadcast Black-oriented public affairs radio program, is one of KUT’s most popular podcasts.
