2023 Louisiana Prep Football Preview: Richwood High School

Class & District: Class 3A (District 1)

2022 Playoffs: Defeated Caldwell Parish 12-8 in 1st Round, Lost to Many 21-0 in Second Round.

“Every year is a new chapter for this program,” said new Richwood High School head coach Bakari Guice who was the defensive coordinator for the school in 2021 and 2022. “We graduated 18 seniors from last year, so we are a little young but are showing no dropoff.”

The skill players will be the key for this season making the big plays in a tough District. The program has those guys in WR Jontavion Dixon (5-10, 170, Sr.) who is a tough kid with 4.55 speed, SS/FS Michael Wright (5-8, 165) three-year starter with 4.5 speed the leader of the team, QB/DB Andrew King (6-1, 170) who is a big-time athlete, RB Andre Williams (5-5, 180) power with toughness, RB/MLB Jeremy Jones (5-11, 205) lettered in 2022, FS/WR Cameron Whitlock (5-11, 170, Sr.) experienced, SS/OLB Tyland Jones (5-11, 170, Sr.) with high IQ of the game and TE/DE Xzander Washington (6-5, 225) who lettered in 2022 and has a ton of upside to make big plays. The key lineman in the program that needs to have big years is OT/OG Karder Mason (6-8, 250), OL Dwayne Melton (6-3, 220, Sr., DT/OG Christian Miller (6-0, 255), second-year starter DT Noah Harper (6-0, 210) and several young linemen are battling to keep new starting jobs in the fall.
