Two of the biggest hurdles independent fashion brands struggle with is retail and product management. In this month’s newsletter we connected with Rebecca Morter the CEO and founder of Lone Design Club who gave her advice on navigating omnichannel retail. Rebecca started out as a designer so has experienced first-hand the pain points other brands feel. Her dedication to revolutionizing retail has resulted in both Forbes and Drapers recognizing her in their “30 Under 30” category. Rebecca is well established as an influential voice in the evolving retail landscape. A working women’s round of applause to both Rebecca and Laura McCluskey for making this happen. Using our 12+ years of experience at The POP Group and The IN-HOUSE Group across both our LA and London showrooms has earned us the self-proclaimed title of “Product Pro’s”.  It’s time consuming as much as it is important. We currently handle over $2 million dollars’ worth of stock and answer to over 100 designers. Making sure everything is accounted for is a full-time job, and inevitably accidents happen - we’re all human unless of course you’re Demi Moore and in which case you’re clearly superhuman. When a garment goes missing or gets damaged, flying off the handle is a waste of your time and energy, there is always a solution and sometimes you can make it to your benefit. Check out this month’s newsletters to get our take on this topic which we’ve aptly titled … “SH*T HAPPENS”.  Hope you all have an amazing week and are managing to surface out of Paris Fashion Week.

There's truly nothing quite like throwing yourself into the deep end. Today was our first official day back in the offices at The POP Group + The IN-HOUSE Group, I’ve felt like a boy racer during the holidays waiting at the lights for the green light to appear and finally it’s here. If you’re a fashion designer or are friends with any then please share our recent newsletter, we’re talking about the misconception of failure when its success, good old fashioned one-on-one meets, photography and getting your money’s worth.  There is an issue between Intuit Mailchimp and LinkedIn when sharing links so copy + paste the below address to read the full newsletter: https://lnkd.in/dVBSTqwh

Running a business is a bit like driving in a foreign country, it’s all fun and games until something goes wrong. Being prepared sounds obvious but let’s face it, between checking your mirrors and translating road signs our focus will drift. So before you get a flat, here are some pointers to keep you on the straight and narrow. And fear not, we kept this short, you shouldn’t be reading messages whilst driving anyway …

If we had a fashion line ...

30 Designers. 13 Shows. 5 Days. London Fashion Week just shot by and the team and I at The POP Group loved it. We worked with Jayne Pierson on a collaborative runway with Stratasys + nuForj, LLC, Shuxuan G, 13DE Marzo, Shuxuan G, Cookie H, MTG, Malan Breton, Prophetik, Junyang and many more. This was my first fashion week back since the pandemic and there have been some interesting shifts. There’s a new wave of Stylists, Editors and Assistants eager to support designers. I loved how chill and low key they were, gone are the days of "Don't you know who I am" and instead replaced with a laid back vibe. People used to take selfies and wear sunglasses on the front row rather than looking at the models, this season this was absent. Guests have reached out post show wanting one on one interviews with thought provoking questions. I love these subtle changes, as a PR this makes our role even more fluid and rewarding. Brands thinking about showing at Fashion Week should consider why they want to do it. Putting on a runway does not give you the green light into Vogue runway report or any other kind of coverage for that matter. This should be considered an investment in the long-term goals and strategy of your business. Look on it as a steppingstone for future investment or a warm introduction to potential store/media/talent placements. It’s an outlay of funds which could be spent elsewhere, but how else are you going to get the attention of this many decision makers under one roof to focus on just you?

London Fashion Week is in a couple of days and The POP Group has an incredible line up of runway shows. This is the first season since 2020 where international brands and industry experts have flown into London without restrictions. Fashion took a hit during that period and many stylists, editors and designers weren't able to continue working in an industry which we love. If you were fortunate enough to make it through and bounce back then please support the shows you attend as much as possible. A shout out on social media, runway reports, designer features or anything else makes all the difference to designers who've spent months gearing up to this week. The British Fashion Council have welcomed new talent on the schedule this season so there's plenty to see. Let's make this season a kind and caring environment and enjoy the art which has been created.
