Let’s look @ Wolli Creek; interchange station, near airport & employment, direct link to city centre, location overlooking Cooks River & Wolli Cr itself… you would think ideal for the sort of hyper density in favour in Sydney. But a few buts..shows density alone not enough. Wolli Cr problems show lack of public leadership; -Limited access to wider waterfront -Flood risk means buildings elevated awkwardly -Poor street pattern & limited walkability, & no new connections beyond -Lack of public facilities & places -So much unprotected NW facing glass Nor can you easily get into Wolli Creek - except by rail. Why hasn’t this intense development created public $ for new pedestrian/cycle connections to banks of Wolli Creek & generous Waterworth Pk opposite? Such new links around Tempe would benefit everyone #publicsydney

Brooks – #SanAntonio’s up and coming mixed-use community that doesn’t get the regional and national press it deserves. Located on the southeast side of San Antonio, the Air Force ceased operations at Brooks Air Force Base in 2011 after 94 years of military operations. In anticipation of this event, the Brooks Development Authority (BDA) was created by the City of San Antonio in 2001 to redevelop “Brooks City Base”. Fowler Ave in Tampa presents an interesting dilemma for planners. On an average day, Fowler Avenue accommodates about 53,000 vehicles near Uptown and 65,500 vehicles from Bruce B. Downs Boulevard to 56th Street. It is a major transportation corridor and a thoroughfare to some of the biggest economic engines in the Tampa Bay region, traffic to the University of South Florida, Moffitt Cancer Center, Busch Gardens and Yuengling Brewing Co. The FDOT has determined that it will transform one lane each way into a transit-dedicated corridor. Downsizing the road would create a more pleasant experience for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists (maybe). A classic example of urban sprawl.
