When she started working with Patang, Rashmita developed a deep understanding of forest conservation and its impact on climate change. A youth-led organisation in Odisha, Patang facilitates young people to realise their own power and stand up for equity and justice.
Rashmita’s passion for upholding community and individual forest rights set her on the path to becoming a changemaker. As a part of her GreEntrepreneur journey, she initiated Project Farm 2 Home to facilitate the adoption of organic farming among the families in her community.
The knowledge-building sessions by the GreEntrepreneur mentors, helped Rashmita build her own understanding of Climate Change and the relationship between organic farming and carbon footprint.
Through a series of activities and dialogues, Rashmita went on to engage 700 community members (school teachers, students and their families, government officers and PRI members). The conversations with the community members explored how the climate has changed over their lifetime, and its effects on their life including livelihoods. “𝙏𝙝𝙚𝙨𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙝𝙚𝙡𝙥𝙚𝙙 𝙢𝙚 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙣 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧 𝙚𝙭𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙨𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙢𝙮 𝙤𝙬𝙣 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨 𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙞𝙨𝙨𝙪𝙚 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢.”

Rashmita hopes that this trend of change continues and that she will be able to take more people along on her journey, especially more young people. It is their zeal for making a change, which fuels her own passion even further.
