Today the Center for Green Schools at the U.S. Green Building Council, in partnership with the Campaign for Environmental Literacy, published an important paper, "State-Level Legislation Concerning K-12 Climate Change Education". With 52% of teens reporting they want to learn about climate solutions and that they feel increasingly anxious and overwhelmed when solutions are absent, and 80% of parents reporting they want climate change topics taught in schools, it is critical that our education system catch up with the times and incorporate interdisciplinary climate education into the curriculum for all students. The report breaks down what successful policy looks like and how to implement climate change education across a state. One key componet is incorportating requirements and funding for teacher training as 75% of teachers have not received training on how to teach about climate change! #climatechange #education #cliamatescience #interdisciplinaryeducation #climateaction #handsonlearning #climatejustice

Research Fellow in Transport Analysis, PhD (Non-walkability in the car-centric city), recovering transport engineer
This afternoon I am teaching a session on environmental and social justice in the transport sector! This is part of a Climate Justice module at the University of the West of England. I will be talking about: • Direct environmental impacts of transport • Indirect impacts – land use, energy consumption, health, access, ... • Barriers to access / social model of disability • Examples of positive change and progressive governance • Systemic complexities • Possible perverse effects of “positive” change Really looking forward to this!
