Collegiate Church of Motril
The Collegiate Church of Motril, situated in the city center,
presents a captivating blend of architectural styles.
Built on the site of the Great Mosque at the beginning of the sixteenth century, it is a Mudejar work that blends several architectural styles, from Gothic to Baroque.
Its striking appearance serves as a reminder of its original defensive purpose; the Muslim minaret, known as Torre de la Vela, has been preserved.
In 2005, there was a remodeling of the main altar, with the presbytery expanded and lowered, and a new ambo was also constructed.

The Town Hall, located next to the Colegiata, is a Baroque building constructed in 1631.
It features a Mudejar-coffered ceiling at the main entrance and in the Meeting Room.
The Town Hall has been renovated, and now it includes a central courtyard to enhance its functionality.
Inside, there are some highly valuable Mudejar coffered ceilings.
Some rooms are open to visitors, displaying original period furnishings. Additionally, art exhibitions and other cultural events are held here.

Visiting hours change monthly.If you come between 18:00 and 18:30 or between 10:00 and 11:30 on Saturdays and Sundays, it will be open regardless of the current timetable.

This Baroque church is also situated in the Plaza de España, near the town hall.
It was constructed at the end of the sixteenth century on a rocky hill where the victims of a swine fever epidemic were buried.
The cross in front of the façade serves as a reminder of the plague that affected a large part of the population of Motril
Masses are held on Saturday at 20:00 and on Sundays and holidays at 12:00.

The Palma House in Motril
Casa de la Palma is a Moorish sugar mill in a colonial-style building.
Its origins date back to the sixteenth century.
Today, it serves as a cultural center and is also known as Casa del Reloj (Watch House) de Vitoria.
Inside, there is a garden featuring trees from America and a small Mudejar-coffered ceiling.

It was constructed around the middle of the seventeenth century as a chapel in honor of San Antón.
Originally, it was in the Mudéjar style, but later the church was extended and transformed into a single-nave temple.
It's a single-nave church with a basic structure, featuring very little decoration in its interior. The main chapel stands out, covered with a hemispherical dome.
It is also known as the Iglesia de la Divina Pastora (Church of the Holy Shepherdess).

Our Lady of Cabeza (Nuestra Señora de la Cabeza) sanctuary is dedicated to the Patron Saint of Motril.
It is believed that in this place the palace of the mother of Boabdil once stood. The architect was Isidro de la Chica.
Well worth looking at are the altarpiece and the dressing room of the Virgin, by Manuel González Ligero. It has a carving of the Virgin dating from the sixteenth century.
In the seventeenth century the chapel became a Franciscan convent. From this
vantage point you can enjoy great views of the town.

It is still a very nice place to go for a stroll or to take the children, where they can play while you relax on the lawn.
It has playgrounds and skating areas, swings for children, a mini motorbike track and a variety of trees and bushes from all over the world.

Built in 1679 and in the Baroque style, it is located on the outskirts of Motril.Address: Camino de San Antonio.
