The origin of the inhabitants of the municipality has its starting point in the old province of Imabite, an area of Chorotega culture belonging to the Nagrando region.
These populations served as labor for the first capital of Nicaragua, León, located next to the west shore of Lake Xolotlán and founded in 1524.
The municipality of La Paz Centro is located 57 kilometers from the city of Managua. It limits to the north with Larreynaga, to the south with Nagarote, to the east with Lake Managua and El Jicaral and to the west with León.
The fundamental economic activity of the municipality is livestock and agriculture. Sesame, vegetables, corn, sorghum, soybeans, peanuts, sugar cane and tobacco are grown.

To get to La Paz Centro you can travel on interlocal buses - that go to León - that leave from the stop located in front of the Casimiro Sotelo Montenegro National University, or from the Israel Lewites Market that go to León and ask the driver to stop. at the entrance to La Paz Centro.
In your own transport from Managua you must take the Nueva a León highway and continue until kilometer 57, on the right hand side is the main entrance of the municipality.
