Charcas is a town and municipality in the Mexican state of San Luis Potosí in central Mexico. Charcas is just south of the Tropic of Cancer. Due to its elevation of 2,219 metres (ca. 7,280 ft), the climate is mild.

The town was founded in 1578 by Spanish conquistadors.

Typical Mexican polymetallic skarn deposit. The Charcas deposit has a large Ca-B metasomatic envelope composed of early datolite and later danburite. Axinite group minerals are a later stage contemporary with the danburite deposition.
