Mattawamkeag Wilderness Park and Campground

Home

Drift back 8 miles into the wilderness along the scenic Mattawamkeag River. After you enjoy the  beauty of Lower and Upper Gordon Falls and Sleugundy Heater Gorge, join us at the campground. In the heart of north- central Maine, it is camping the way it should be. Once in the campground, you may enjoy camping the way you like it. If you want to rough it, journey to an outlying shelter. Bring your RV or tent to one of our 50 sites or use one of our 11 Adirondack shelters, some of which are located a stones throw from the river. For RV's we feature 6 sites with electricity, water & sewer and 8 sites with electric hook ups and  water. We recommend RV's under 35 feet on these serviced sites but can accommodate larger on other sites.
Enjoy fishing, canoeing, hiking or mountain biking on our miles of trails, or just relax. We have full bathroom facilities, dumping station, free hot showers, a playground and recreation hall, and a well-stocked store  to pick up the items you may have forgotten or run out of. Our new Laundromat is now open for your convenience. Pets? Bring them along. They must be under the owners direct supervision (leashes please!) and have proof of vaccination. Have a special occasion? Our recreation hall can be rented for weddings, reunions, and other functions. The Recreation hall rental now includes the use of our 40' by 70' BBQ Pavilion, a large commercial size gas grill is available for an additional fee. Have a group that needs space for a retreat? What better place than at the beautiful Mattawamkeag Wilderness Park and we have group rates available!
