Saltfleetby St. Peter, Centenary Primitive Methodist Chapel, Mar Dyke East. Lincolnshire
The Centenary Chapel was built in 1907
On visiting the village of Saltfleetby St. Peter in 2023 to photograph the Primitive Methodist Chapel, it was sad to see that the building was starting to appear a little rundown and unkempt. It was also disappointing to see the Chapel plaque and foundation stones had been ‘vandalised’ leaving just the date showing. These are part of the history of the Chapel.
At the rear of the Chapel building was a small attached house, which may have been built for the ‘Chapel Keeper’.
In 2023 the Chapel building has a notice attached to the front window advertising that it is the ‘Saltfleetby Snooker Club’.
The above information and photographs supplied by Elaine and Richard Pearce.
Lincolnshire Archives, Lincoln has the following records relating to this chapel:
Ref. MLI99058: Mar Dyke East, Saltfleet St. Peter. Centenary Primitive Methodist Chapel, first built 1847 then at the centenary rebuilt in 1907. Seated 112, closed 1961, became a house.
