Gangaikondan IT park to be open by month-end

TIRUNELVELI: Gangaikondan IT Park would be inaugurated by the end of February, said Information and Technology Minister Poongothai Aladi Aruna.The minister inspected the ongoing works at the Gangaikondan IT Park on Friday.

Speaking to reporters, she said that of the 500 acres in the IT Park, the first phase of work was being completed on a 100acre area at the cost of Rs 25 crore.

The construction work of the three-storey building with a plinth area of 50,000 sq ft was being carried out. It would be finished soon and inaugurated by the end of February.

The minister further said that a multinational company Syntel had asked for 50 acres of land in the park. It would be allotted to the company soon. Besides, four private companies have applied to start their operations here and 25,000 sq ft of the building, which was being constructed, would be allotted to the companies.

Poongothai hoped the companies would start their operations by March.Syntel team led by its chairman Bharat Desai visited the park. ELCOT Managing Director Santhosh Babu, Tirunelveli District CollectorM Jayaraman among others, accompanied the team.
