Assembly constituency no.35 Sakti (सक्ती in Hindi), is an Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) seat in the North region and Sakti district, of the state of Chhattisgarh, which is in the Central region of India (Bharat). Sakti is part of the 3. Jangir-Champa (Scheduled Caste) Lok Sabha (Parliamentary) constituency. This constituency can be categorised as: General; Rural constituency.

DEMOGRAPHIC PROFILE

Sakti Assembly constituency has an estimated Scheduled Caste population of 14.99% and an estimated Scheduled Tribe population of 19.16%, according to the report of the Delimitation Commission of 2008. The estimated literacy level of the district in which this constituency falls in is 73.07%, according the Census of India, 2011.

In the 2023 Chhattisgarh Assembly elections, there were a total of 2,13,908 eligible electors in the constituency, of which 1,08,230 were male and 1,05,677 female and 1 registered voters were of the third gender.

The electorate sex ratio in Sakti in 2023 was 976 female voters for every 1,000 male voters.

In the 2018 Assembly polls, there were a total of 1,96,828 eligible electors, of which 1,00,549 were male, 96,271 female and 240 electors of the third gender.

In the 2013 Chhattisgarh Assembly elections, there were a total of 1,78,494 eligible electors, of which 92,248 were male, 86,233 female and 13 voters of the third gender.

PAST RESULTS

In the 2018 Chhattisgarh Assembly elections, Charan Das Mahant of INC won in this seat defeating Medha Ram Sahu of BJP by a margin of 30,046 which was 20.23% of the total votes cast for the seat. INC had a vote share of 52.57% in 2018 in this seat.

In 2013, Doctor Khilawan Sahu of BJP emerged victorious in this seat beating Saroja Manharan Rathore of INC by a margin of 9,033 votes which was 6.64% of the total votes polled in the constituency. BJP had a vote share of 37.92% in the seat.

In the 2008 elections, Smt Saroja Manharan Rathore of INC won this seat beating Medharam Sahu of BJP by a margin of 9,392 votes which was 8.4% of the total votes polled in the constituency. BJP had a vote share of 42.37% in the seat.

The geographic coordinates of Sakti is: 22°03’03.6″N 82°49’44.4″E. Sakti shares its borders with six other Assembly constituencies in the state of Chhattisgarh. The other Chhattisgarh Assembly constituencies adjacent to Sakti are: Rampur, Akaltara, Janjgir-Champa, Jaijaipur, Chandapur, Kharsia. This constituency shares an inter-state border with: no other state.

Assembly constituency no.35. Sakti comprises of the following areas of Sakti district in the North region of Chhattisgarh: I Sakti Tehsil (Including Sakti NP) and II Champa Tehsil (Part) – (i) Champa R I Circle (except Champa (m)).

This constituency covers an approximate area of 577 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Sakti is: 22°03’03.6″N 82°49’44.4″E.
