Thane: A couple died after allegedly jumping from the terrace of a building in the Ulhasnagar area of Thane city in Maharashtra with the police probing a possible political angle over claims that the husband had links with the Eknath Shinde faction of the Shiv Sena.

On Tuesday, Nandkumar Nanaware and his wife Urmila jumped from the third floor of the building in Camp 4 of Ashale Pada, where they resided. The couple’s bodies were found in a pool of blood near the building’s entrance, police said.

The incident has left the local people in shock.

Nandkumar reportedly worked as a personal assistant for Shiv Sena (Shinde faction)  MLA Balaji Kinikar since the last few years, a claim that the legislator has denied while appealing to not float rumours after the Nanaware couple’s death.

The husband had earlier worked as a personal assistant for former NCP MLA as well.
