Norwegian singer-songwriter Ina Wroldsen released a new song “Matters” on April 2, 2021.
The song is the second single under her new label Sony Music Entertainment Norway, following “We Are Gonna Live” released last month.
She recorded the song in Nashville with Mike Elizondo. Produced by Arnthor Birgisson.
“Matters may be the most honest song I've ever written, it's also the darkest one,” Ina Wroldsen shared on social media. “2019 was a year where I felt a stress I'd never felt before. I tried to maintain my songwriter career, build on the solo dream with an English label and tour around the country with my band. This combined with the fact that I'm a mother, partner, daughter, friend and not least just Ina, made it feel like my backpack finally broke my back that year.”
She continued, “After I wrote Matters, I didn't write anything more for a year. The singing voice wouldn't sing, my spark wasn't to raise and I entered a period that became the heaviest I've had so far in my life. When I write, I always try to write about that spark. The light must be found somewhere, even in the darkest depths. Matters have no light and are one of the heaviest songs I have admitted anything with. It was terribly difficult to listen to and not least, very heavy to find yourself with.”- “I hardly ever feel the way I appear and even though it might look like this at times, so I'm not made of either stone or ice. None of us are. I give out matters because in my heavy period I realized something important. It's true that sometimes in life it's convenient, and it's important to feel that darkness. We are human, we want to get up again. But saying that; It's fucking dark here ", it's crucial for us to find that light again.
