LAOAG CITY – The municipal police station in Solsona, Ilocos Norte has been placed under total lockdown as one of its personnel tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) on Monday.

On Tuesday, another police personnel tested positive while 19 others including five persons deprived of liberty (PDL) will undergo mandatory swab testing.

As of this posting, a yellow barricade tape was set up around the police station to prevent the unnecessary movement of people.

Lieutenant Belen Baoit, Solsona acting police station chief, told in a radio interview Tuesday that members of the second Regional Mobile Force Battalion will temporarily take over the vicinity of Solsona town as the compromised men in uniform will be in isolation.

“The closure of the station was started last Monday (July 12) until further notice,” she said.

Early on, police commanders have been directed to regularly disinfect their stations to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Police personnel were also reminded to be extra cautious and also to look after their own health and safety. (PNA
