COVER: VG ~Moderate wear to front and drill hole. Partial split bottom seam is cleanly and professionally repaired with acid-free, archival tape.

VINYL: VG++ ~High gloss vinyl has extremely few very light marks that are inaudible. LP plays high VG++ to NM throughout. Labels clean with spindle marks at center, visible at angle to light. Label, side 2 has blemish at rim (at two-oclock).

Original USA FIRST PRESS Tower Records issue of The first CHOCOLATE WATCHBAND LP. Bought in 1967.

This is the LP with "Let's Talk About Girls," "Are You Gonna Be There (at The Love-In") and Time Is) Gone and Passes By.

I don't know if Tower Records ever had actual white label, marked "for promotion" record labels, but this LP originally had a large round sticker in upper right corner (covering the drill hole) stating "Promotional NOT FOR SALE". Of course it was for sale at the "Celestial Rythyms" hippie record shop above the fire station in Carmel, California, which is where I bought it. There is a faint circular "cut" marking where I (16 year old me) used an exacto knife in lifting off the sticker. I didn't know all the tricks back then. This hardly breaks the surface, but is visible upon close inspection; luckily no tears resulted (I was already that good way back then).

I had just seen them perform live at the Monterey Fairgrounds and thought they were some kind of psychedelic gods.
Changed my world.

The vinyl is in amazingly good shape after 39 years and still looks and plays super clean. The cover has split on the bottom seam about 1/3 of the length. Many years back I used a single strip of clear (acid-free, archival) document repair tape to close it up. This stuff is nearly invisible and lasts for a lifetime.

It has not -nor will it ever- flake, yellow or become loose or brittle.

This is the RIGHT tape to use, when and if you must! Art-restoration professionals, custom framers and book restorers all use this -ask them yourselves for some, and save your record covers from the dreaded, acidic "scotch" / "cello" tapes (or worse) that ruin many a good cover.

This is a very, very hard LP to come by, even with the cover wear. This LP and my original "INNER MYSTIQUE (2nd Watchband album) are both up for bid this week, as is a very rare CHOCOLATE WATCHBAND Concert poster, autographed for me by all 5 members. Check it out!
