‘Denning and Claryville History Afternoon’ at the Time and the Valleys Museum

Grahamsville — Old photos, records, stories and artifacts from the Town of Denning will be available at Denning and Claryville History Afternoon, Aug. 7 at 1 p.m. at the Time and the Valleys Museum on Route 55 in Grahamsville. Co-sponsored by the Town of Neversink, the museum will share archive information on the rich history of the Town of Denning, Ulster County, including oral histories from Town of Denning residents and binders full of information about life along the Upper Neversink and the Upper Rondout.

The program is free, and also includes free admission to the museum. Individuals with photos, information or special history items from the Town of Denning are invited and encouraged to bring their items to share. For further information call Town of Neversink Historian Carol Smythe at 985-7700.

The Time and the Valleys Museum is a living and interactive resource that preserves the past, educates the present and ensures the uniqueness of the Rondout and Neversink watersheds for all generations. The museum is at 332 Main Street ( Rt. 55) in Grahamsville and is open to the public Memorial Day to Labor Day, from Thurs.-Sun., noon-4 p.m. and weekends until Thanksgiving. The museum has three floors of exhibitions, a local history research center (open Thursdays from 1-4 p.m.) and museum shop. Current exhibitions are: Water and the Valleys, Tunnels, Toil and Trouble: New York City’s Quest for Water and the Rondout-Neversink Story, and Picture Yourself(ie) in the 1930s. Admission to the museum is by suggested donation $5, $2 children, and children under 6 are admitted for free.
