Yale, Illinois: Mug Tree (Gone)
A big sign identified the Mug Tree, and with all of the mugs it's hard to miss. It was cut down, sort of, then topped with a tree outhouse. Then a 2018 storm knocked down the whole thing.

Sad news to report, the Mug Tree has fallen. This landmark will be missed. Hopefully those responsible for its care can come up with something.

The Mug Tree is where you can trade or leave your mugs. There is also a mailbox where you can sign a guest book. On Rt. 49, between Casey and Yale.

A large 15 ft. tall tree stump (if you can call the remains of a large 3+ ft. diameter tree a stump) has been covered with several hundred coffee mugs and topped with an outhouse. Sitting along IL Route 49, 3/4 miles south of Yale IL. No admission fee - viewable from the highway. Sign says "Est 2003."
