Fluminimaggiore in brief – information and more

The commune of Fluminimaggiore on the south west coast of Sardinia, with almost 3,000 inhabitants, is located between Arbus and Iglesias and belongs to the province of Carbonia-Iglesias. Carbonia is around 30 km away, and Cagliari to the south-east is around 80 km away. The area around Fluminimaggiore has long been characterized by mining. Today all mines are shut down and some are renovated as a museum and open to the public.

The beautiful beaches of Cala Domestica, San Nicolao and Portixeddu can be easily reached by car.

Caves enthusiasts can visit the stalactite cave Su Mannau near Fluminimaggiore. If you want to learn more about the history of Sardinia, you can visit the Roman-Punic Temple of Antas near Fluminimaggiore, from the 2nd century BC, or some of the numerous remains of prehistoric nuraghe culture northeast of Arbus.
