Sharing for Growth and Support

By Elesha Fetrow | January 2022

Hello, lovely school counselors. Perhaps, like the rest of the world, you may have recommitted in the new year to doing better for yourself and better for the students you serve. Trust us when we say that you are doing a phenomenal job just as you are in this moment – let the doubt go. We live in unprecedented times with more shifting within our building sites and even perhaps within ourselves than ever before. However, if you as a school counselor are anything like the rest of us, you are on a continued practice routine to increase your knowledge, awareness and skill in so many areas that affect your students. Whew, life is moving fast. To help you along your way, members of your New Mexico School Counselor Association board have compiled a few ideas to share. We call it the Greatest Hits, and you can find it on our website at https://www.nmschoolcounselor.org/.

We still have half a year left in the 2021–2022 school year – plenty of time to hit refresh, try something new, and continue to strive to meet your targets for both you and your students. We believe in you . . . and we would love to hear and then share your ways of working toward your students and your own greatness! Send stories to me, Elesha Fetrow, at outreach@NMschoolcounselor.org. Let us highlight some of your ideas and notions, because when we share with one another, we all get better and move toward greatness for all of New Mexico’s children. Oh, and another notion: stop by during one of the online conversation times (watch your email for specifics) and share your stories live with us and others from around the state. You might just be surprised at how far your ideas can travel.
