  With an extremely simplistic name, yet an increasingly complex sound, The Men have been considered by Consequence of Sound as the “Little Bar Band That Could (and did).” Their wide range of sound triggers those higher up emotions that make you want to hop, gently, yet full of pent up emotion and excitement. That’s what music is all about, isn’t it? Their record book is full of past releases that stay true to their Brooklyn punk roots, yet the band never fails to explore their boundaries. Since their inception in 2008, they have released five full-length albums, with their most recent work being appropriately titled 'Tomorrow’s Hits.' With a strong touring presence and an ever changing array of influences, The Men’s sound has evolved tremendously over the years. They have performed across the world, from cramped bars full of rowdy music enthusiasts to festival stages with, well, even more rowdy music enthusiasts. I have been fortunate enough to see them play twice, to experience their energy, their enthusiasm, and to witness the tasteful guitar shredding sludgefest that is The Men. I was able to see them play at smaller venues, and the band never disappointed. Showcasing their sonic diversity, the track list ranged from their anticipated and well-delivered Tomorrow’s Hits tracks, to former album classics, to encore Grateful Dead covers. While standing in a crowd full of people, it is impossible to ignore how The Men seamlessly reflect the energy and excitement of their fans, feeding off of one another, and any other bystanders who happen to be feeling adventurous that night. I can tell you one thing, that everybody left happy, sweaty, and more than satisfied.
