Latin superstars Mau y Ricky have released the cinematic music video for “FRESH”. The Venezuelan brothers go back to high school in their new visual from their album rifresh.
“FRESH” is one of the most adventurous songs on rifresh. Mau y Ricky are refreshing Latin urban music with a mix of reggaeton, pop, and punk rock music.
The music video captures the carefree and naughty spirit of the song with Mau y Ricky taking over the high school. As a nerd dances through the hallway to the beat of the song’s catchy bass melody, the guys are hooligans playing all the characters: from the classmates, the teachers, to Mau playing a cheerleader.
The video that’s like a Hollywood teen movie was directed by Stillz, who has worked with artists like Bad Bunny, Snoop Dogg, Lil Wayne, Jaden Smith, J Balvin, among others.
The music video for “FRESH” arrives one month after Mau y Ricky’s beautiful video for “Dolería,” another taste of rifresh, that was also directed by Stillz. In March, they started their new jobs as coaches in Mexico’s La Voz Kids, giving their expertise as stars to the new generation of artists. The duo is having success in coaching the Mexican children artists. Next they will be coaches on La Voz Argentina. On April 9, Mau y Ricky will headline HBO Max’s A Tiny Audience series with an intimate performance.
Last year Mau y Ricky continued to push the boundaries of Latin pop and urban music with the release of their groundbreaking second album rifresh. On Spotify, rifresh has received millions of streams around the world. Lead single "PAPÁS" achieved Gold and Platinum certifications in the U.S. and Latin America. The song went viral on TikTok with over 400 million views thanks to the #PAPÁSChallenge like the singles that followed, “La Grosera” and “OUCH”.
The videos for these first three singles were also produced by director and photographer Stillz. These videos have been characterized for their cinematic and daring touch, which has undoubtedly captivated the public, showing content that is fresh and different from anything they’ve done before, and giving their fans a lot to talk about.
2020 was undoubtedly the year of international recognition for Mau y Ricky thanks to their collaborations with superstars like John Legend and JP Saxe. The multiple Grammy-winner Legend invited the duo on a Spanglish remix of "Bigger Love" and Saxe included them on a Spanglish remix of "Hey Stupid, I Love You."
The name Mau y Ricky is always behind the biggest hits as both artists and songwriters. Among the hits, they have written are “Sin Pijama” by Becky G and Natti Natasha, which has a 13-times Diamond certification, “Vente Pa’ Ca” by Ricky Martin and Maluma, and “1 2 3” by Sofía Reyes. Singers with a stature like Thalía and Juanes count Mau y Ricky compositions among their hits.
