Bu you might not recognise them so readily these days, especially since one band member was axed in a shock move.

Originally consisting of vocalist and guitarist Tim Wheeler, bassist Mark Hamilton and drummer Rick McMurray, the Northern Irish stars got together in 1992.

Charlotte Hatherley joined in 1997 as a guitarist, pianist and backing vocalist but was ousted in 2006.

Although the group said in a statement that her departure was "amicable", she told a different story in a 2007 interview.

Charlotte told The Independent: “In the end it was the boys’ choice. They wanted to go back to being a three-piece.

"They knew I wasn’t happy in the band any more so they assumed that I’d be fine with the decision.

“I did find it was a bit weird. I left the conversation thinking: ‘What just happened there? Did I leave or was I fired?’"

These days, the three-piece continue to release music and perform live, with their latest album Race The Night dropped this year.

Other notable hits include Goldfinger, Oh Yeah, Shining Light, There's a Star and Orpheus.
