‘Townie’ couple in row with Cumbria locals over village green at their gate

A patch of grass scarcely big enough for a picnic table is at the centre of a High Court battle between a “townie” couple and locals who claim that their “village green” has been “stolen”.

Bridget Kelly, a former accountant, and her partner Richard Wozniak, a retired dentist in Fleet, Hampshire, have told the court that they escaped six years ago to Rosgill, with a population of 50, in Cumbria.

They were attacked online, however, by locals over the use of a small triangular patch of grass and track in front of their house, measuring roughly 20 by 10 yards.
